Jesus, the Good Shepherd

Smiling Sheep

Love. Hope. Faith.

These three words make life more meaningful, more abundant. Knowing you are loved will give you hope. Hope releases faith. Trust in Jesus flows out of faith in Him. Jesus loves you.

Who is this person who says He loves you?

Jesus came from heaven, born of a woman and Holy Spirit. He taught us about God and his great love for his creation, for you. Then he proved his love like no one else ever could. He took the punishment for everything we ever did by suffering and dying on a cross. Who else do you know who would suffer on a cross for your sake? And his love continued. He rose from the grave, proving that He conquered death. Jesus demonstrated that the grave could not hold him. It cannot hold you if you will believe in Christ’s sacrifice. Eternal life can be yours!

Freedom from guilt and shame can be yours!

Freedom flows out of knowing you are loved and accepted. No more shame! You can be in relationship with God who loves you, who suffered for you. It took a severe trial to bring you to freedom. Will you surrender your life to Jesus who gave his life to give you freedom and eternal life?

A Smiling Sheep

One day I woke up feeling sick and tired. Perhaps spending a day in bed would benefit me, I thought. But then I remembered who I am in Christ. I am an overcomer. I am victorious! He not only died for my faults (my sins), but also for my sickness and disease. So, I prayed healing over myself, got my camera, and set out to follow the lead of Holy Spirit. And then I saw them…sheep in a field. Words filled my mind, “I know my sheep and they know me.” One of my shots revealed a smiling sheep looking right at me. I felt God’s love fill me up. Yes, Jesus knows me and I know him. This is so good. So, so good to know the Good Shepherd, Jesus. I knew I was loved. You can know God’s love too.

Jesus the Good Shepherd

Jesus said, “I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep…As the Father knows me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing to die for them.” (John 10:11…15).

Psalm 23

When Jesus called himself the Good Shepherd, He was referring to Psalm 23. This poem declared God to be a loving shepherd who cared for each one of his sheep. Jesus was declaring He was God, the Good Shepherd.

The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need. He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water. He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised. Even if I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid, LORD, for you are with me. Your shepherd’s rod and staff protect me. You prepare a banquet for me, where all my enemies can see me; you welcome me as an honored guest and fill my cup to the brim. I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life; and your house will be my home as long as I live. Psalm 23 GNT

Believe

You can know the Good Shepherd. Believe in Jesus. Pray and surrender your heart to Him and He will save you. You can pray the following prayer if you want to know him. He will receive you and know you.

Pray

Father in heaven, I believe in Jesus, your son, who died for me, who shed his blood to wash me clean of all my sins. Forgive me. I surrender. I give you my heart. Save me and give me freedom and eternal life. I will follow you. Give me the strength I need and guide me into the right paths. Light my way and show me the way through darkness. I will not be afraid for you will protect me and be with me. Thank you that I am received as your honored guest. I am grateful for your goodness and love. I am glad that I can trust in you. Thank you that your house is my home always and into forever.
